Loss of Control - Chapter 3

"3... 2... 1... GO!"

Before Lou could even thing Grey had bolted off. She grabbed hold of his breast plate hard, the reins in the other hand as Grey galloped off towards the woodland. Everyone had gone their own way; some going towards the mountains, some went up to the sky but she and another person went towards the woods. Lou planned to go through the woodlands first then once she got to the mountains she would head to the skies.

Grey galloped happily; twisting and turning between the trees. He knew exactly what he had to do and what he was looking for; he was good like that. When Lou and her mother brought him from the nordanner sales three years ago as a untouched gelding; feral as could be. He was caught from the wild three days before the auctions and she was lucky enough to buy him; even though most said she was mad to buy him. It took five months to break and back him longer than her old horse which had to be put down when it had a fall out on one of the dragon hunting lessons she had from one of the best hunters in the land.

Lou slowed Grey down as the woodland got thicker and thicker. She got him to stand as she looked around. She looked at the ground as she walked him on; looking for tracks. She looked at the sky as she kicked Grey on as he reared up and shot into full gallop. Grey neighed as he full on bucked as he threw his head up in the air.

"He is really strong." Lou said into her earpiece at Chloe and her mother.
"Just keep hold of your reins and give him a little yank with the curb rein to remind him you are in charge hun." Chloe said through the walk-ie she had.
"Okay," She called as she held on and pulled back on the reins.

Grey snarled as he bucked again and stuck his noes out as they galloped. They came to a clearing as Lou lent a bit forward. She brought Grey back to her and got him to walk as she looked around. She could hear horses around her but couldn't see.

"Two riders are down! Jane Alison and Rory James! That leaves 8 left fighting for the crown!" The voice called over the speakers in the distance.

She sighed as she looked around; must have been a big dragon to knock them two off. But that also means that others could have found the dragons. He swallowed heavily before she grabbed the reins tightly and looked up. It was in the sky. She looked up suddenly as she saw something in the corner of her eye. A dragon.

She let out a scream as she gave Grey a large kick as he reared up and shot up into the sky; his ears down as he shot into the sky above the forest high into the sky. Lou looked around as Grey shot around. She looked forward and saw the dragon ahead. She grabbed the sward from her side from Grey's blanket. The dragon looked towards them and let out a deafening screech. Grey neighed back at it as he shot towards it then went under him. Lou turned him around to face the dragon again as she saw Chloe come up from the woods.

"He is mine Lou leave him!" She shouted as her mount came bolting towards them.
"Oh give it up Chloe!" Lou snarled. "He is yours if you kill him first!" She shouted as the dragon blew out a cloud of fire just missing Chloe as she short forward.

Lou kicked Grey as the dragon turned towards her as Chloe also shot forward. Chloe went one way and Lou went the other - both  going around the dragon to get the gems first. Chloe suddenly short forward over the dragon's back screaming dagger in hand but the dragon turned suddenly.

"Chloe move!" Lou screamed as the dragon turned to face Chloe ready to throw a cloud of fire.
"Bugger off!" Chloe snarled as she bolted towards the dragon's neck ready to slice it open and get the gems that hung around its neck.

The dragon turned trying to hit Chloe with his powerful tail blowing a cloud of fire from his mouth just missing Lou. She turned Grey quickly to go under the dragon to located the gems. She looked up as Grey was under the large dragon and saw them dangling from his paw. She quickly brought Grey up from under the dragon. But then Chloe short towards the dragon's neck with the sward in hand. The dragon swung around quickly; quicker then Lou could react.

Then she felt the dragon's tail smack straight into her and Grey's side.

Lou herd a high pitch scream as she felt herself slip of the saddle and saw Grey fall down through the sky.

"Mitchell Mitchel!" Chloe screamed through the ear piece. "Lou is down! She has just be hit by the dragon and fallen off Grey and he has gone down too! Help!" She shouted as she kicked Monster and went after Lou.

She kicked Monster and flew straight down trying to get Lou before she hit the ground. She went through the trees as Lou smacked straight into a tree branch after tree branch then Chloe finally caught her before she hit the ground. She brought Monster down to the ground and jumped off him, grabbing Lou and laying her down on the ground. Her jacket was ripped and her air jacket had been broken and blood was seeping through her jods with where soaked by the time she got her down on the ground.

"Mitchell hurry up!" She shouted.
"What happened?? Is she alright?? I'm telling the guys now!" The guy shouted down the ear piece.
"She and Grey got hit by the dragon and they fell and i don't know where Grey is." She said.

"All competitors please return to the show ground now! We have a girl down!" A man called over the speakers.

Chloe swallowed deeply as she looked around waiting for help to come then she saw a figure in the woodland. She saw it come towards her as it limped. Greyscale. He stopped a good 15 feet from her. She could see blood dripping from down his belly and his tack broken and rug ripped. She looked down at Lou; her face cut up and blood dripping from her body and then noticed...

... She wasn't breathing.
