The vet arrived just after 8pm and none of the girls had arrived back from the hospital so it was up to Theo to get the horses ready for the night. He put King and Cooper in their field and took Forgive and a little grey mare that was her little companion out then mucked them out.
"I had a call of a horse with a large cut?" The young woman smiled as she walked up to Theo.
"Yeah I'll go get him now; dunno what he cut it on he got loose when out riding." He explained as he brought Grey out. "I've cleaned it and put cream on it for now till you came. He's a bit nervous so..." He said as she came over to look at the cut.
After a few moments she smiled and stepped back.
"Won't need any stitching." He smiled. "I'm more concerned about his front legs though." She sighed.
"Why whats up? I know he knocked him but I don't know how bad they where..." He admitted.
"Do you have his vet records?" She asked.
"Umm I'll see if I can find them." He said as he jogged up to the office.
The boss had gone home to pick up her kids so the office was empty. After 5 minutes of searching he found the folder with his name on it. It was pretty thick but considering he was a hunter he wasn't surprised. He jogged back down and gave the lady the book. She flicked through it; her exprecion getting worse and worse before she closed the folder and sighed.
"This boy should be on paddock rest." She said after a pause. "No way she should be riding him; no wonder he bucked her off. His left knee had been smashed, his right knee fractured, three broken ribs and a hole lot of deep wounds. It has been five weeks since they broke and I have it down here he had three weeks of box rest in the vets." She said as she got his passport out. "Then he was home for a week then sold to the market, sold to horse dealer and sold a week later. He must have been ridden at the dealers by the look at it and galloped today? I am suprised he didn't re-break his knee by the sound of it." She said. "I want him on box rest for two weeks." She ordered as she looked at Theo. "Then 3 weeks in a small paddock then start walking him out if he is ready. He legs are swollen and his knees are double the size they should be. He could do with getting them x-rayed again." She said as she wrote what she said on a paper and passed it to Theo. "Poor thing I am suprised he can stand." She sighed.
The boy talked for a bit after Theo put him back into his stable. Then the vets left and he sighed keeping the vet record and put paper on the desk. Amy isn't going to be happy.

"Are you kidding me ma'am?!" Amy almost shouted.
"Amy." the lady said, "You should have read his vet records before you brought him. Ignorance is not an excuse. This what the vets have said so he will be on box rest till his legs get better."
"But ma'am that'll mean he isn't going to be able to hunt this season! That's why I brought him!" She shouted crossing her arms.
"Amy if you ride him again and he gallops off again he'll end up breaking is knees again and he will end up being put down." The lady said as she looked straight at her, "I will not allow you to ride him to the ground Amy your horse or not he is in my stables so under my care and I will not allow you to do that to the poor thing."
Amy looked in disbelief at her and Theo who was standing quietly by the desk.
"Oh whatever!" She shouted before storming off slamming the door on the way out.
"Are you kidding me ma'am?!" Amy almost shouted.

"Oh don't listen to her Amy." Ashley dismissed as both of them sat on the mounting block talking. "She doesn't know what she is talking about and Theo is properly lying anyway; trying to stop you from hunting just because he has a shitty little mare who can't do shit."
"I don't know Ashley." She sighed, "It isn't fair daddy paid a lot of him I have to hunt him!"
"Listen; ma'am is leaving early today and Theo is going to a little show with his shitty little mare so we can go on a ride again and have a proper gallop. King loves to gallop." She smiled.
"That is a lovely idea." She laughed as both continued to gossip.
"I don't know Ashley." She sighed, "It isn't fair daddy paid a lot of him I have to hunt him!"
"Listen; ma'am is leaving early today and Theo is going to a little show with his shitty little mare so we can go on a ride again and have a proper gallop. King loves to gallop." She smiled.
"That is a lovely idea." She laughed as both continued to gossip.

The evening came slowly and both the boss and Theo had gone from the yard leaving only Amy, Alex and Ashley on the yard.
"Alex are you coming?" Ashley smiled.
"No Cooper lost a shoe in the field last night; farriers coming tomorrow to put it back on." She smiled, "Said something about doing Grey's feet too?"
"Yeah." Amy said as she brought Grey out from the stable.
Grey almost limped towards the mounting block feeling pain shooting down his inflamed legs. She jumped on his back feeling another shot of pain raised against his back. He was in so much pain right now every step was agony on his feet, legs and back. The two horses walked down the rode; Grey feeling every stone under his painful feet before they came to the field. Grey's ears popped up as the past the gate and came to the opening.
"First to the gate wins!" Ashley laughed before King shot off towards the gate.
Grey howled in pain as he felt the girl kicking his side and her whip smacking his hind. He reared up and bolted after the larger horse. The two galloped both of the girls laughing as Grey caught up with the other gelding, his ears flat to the ground as he over took.
"We can jump the hedge by the gate the ground in front of it is good I've jumped it before!" Ashley shouted as King over took the joker, jumping the hedge with ease.
Grey's eyes widened as he just about left the ground in time to get over the hedge. He landed on the slippy damp grass, letting out a howl of pain his knees buckled into the weight and pain, his back legs hitting the hedge as he flipped over landing almost straight on Amy.
"Come on then!" Ashley shouted as she turned out; then all coloured drained from her face. "Amy!" she shouted turning King around quickly and trotted up to them.
She jumped straight off the gelding and ran to them taking her phone out. Grey had gotten up quickly and was standing. She looked at him as she fumbled on her phone; he was resting his front leg and blood dripped down from his shoulders and legs. She looked down at Amy who had blood down her face.
"Hello?" Alex's voice answered.
"Listen Alex I need you to call an ambulance," She said franticly. "We just jumped the large hedge at the bottom of the field and Grey flipped over and landed straight on Amy; I think Grey has really hurt his leg he is dragging it and he is covered in blood."
"Oh my fucking God Ashley you have fucking done it this time ma'am is going to kill you. I'll call for one now." She said as Alex put the phone down.
"I am so sorry Amy." Ashley cried as she looked down at her bloody friend.
"Alex are you coming?" Ashley smiled.

Theo sighed as he arrived to an empty yard. All the girls must have done for the night he thought as he parked up his car and brought Forgive from the trailer as Alex rushed up to him.
"Wow whats up?" Theo asked.
"Listen please don't freak out on me." She said quickly.
"Wow okay calm down whats up?" He said; confused at her panik state.
"Alex and Ashley went down to ride this horses in the large field and they both decided to jump the big hedge at the end and Grey ended up jumping it but he flipped over landing on Amy and she is knocked out and Ashley thinks he has fucked up his knee again cause he was dragging it please don't get mad at me." She said all in one long setance without taking a breath.
Theo just looked at her unable to combrahend what said said.
"For fuck sakes have you called ma'am and an ambulance??" Theo finaly said.
"No and Yes they are on their way down ma'am doesn't know yet." She said.
"Fuck sakes what where they even thinking??" He shouted before he took Forgive to her stable glad that she was untacked.
"I don't know I didn't know they where going to jump!"
"So you know she was going to ride him? Why didnt you tell them not to?!"
"They wouldn't have listened to me Theo!"
"Go and call ma'am I'll have to go and get the two horses. For fuck sakes!" He shouted before he jumped back into his 4x4 and drove off; thankful there was a rode that pretty close to where they where.
